Air quality sensor – when is it useful and how does it work?
December 9, 2021Awareness of air pollution is constantly growing. We know that what we breathe in has a huge impact on our health and well-being. Airly is a manufacturer of tools that allow us to check the level of pollution in the air. One of them is an air quality sensor.
How does the air quality sensor work?
Our air quality sensor provides tracking of all key pollution markers. These include various types of particulate matter and gases. With over 4000 sensors installed by us, you can check the status of air quality in over 25 countries. What’s more, our maps, which provide data just from the sensors, also give you reliable weather data. They also include parameters such as humidity, air pressure and wind.
Mechanism of operation
The air quality sensor uses a laser method to measure particulate matter. When it comes to gaseous pollutants, it uses electro-chemical method for this purpose. Each air sensor has an LED whose color indicates the air quality status according to the CAQI scale. You can check the results from our sensors on a map that we have created to make our lives easier. There you can follow in real time reliable data about the air in your immediate surroundings, but also around the world.
